Popular Nigerian actress, Chika Ike has said she works hard because she grew up with nothing, also revealing that she she once battled with low self-esteem and hopelessness.

According to Punch Nigeria, Chika Ike while revealing the circumstances behind her birth and upbringing in a press conference, Ike said she came from a poor background.

She said; “I didn’t have a good relationship with my father growing up because he wanted a male child. Those made me understand as a child that you have to fight for yourself because it is about you alone at the end of the day.

“People think I like money, the fear of failing makes me work hard. I always push myself to succeed and be the person everyone doubted me to be.

When I was little, people would ask me what gave me the impression I could become successful in life. I once struggled to pay my rent and I have been turned down by people many times.

I didn’t get here because I am beautiful or an actress; I kept pushing myself. I do things that you will never think I can do; nobody thought I would be given an admission at the prestigious Harvard Business School.”

She also said she was aware that everyone had a limited time to spend on earth, saying she had decided to live like there was no tomorrow. She added;

“I have been through a lot in my life; I have my ups and downs. I try to have a good life because life is too short. I lost my mother when she was still very young, which made me realise that we cannot live as long as we want. You don’t even know what can happen tomorrow; so, you have to embrace every moment.”

A Nigerian lady who welcomed a set of twins early this year after 12 years of marriage, is also in the news again for welcoming another baby 3 months after the twins arrived. 

Nigerian lady and Facebook user Chinenye Sylva who shared the story on the platform, recounted how her Aunt always complained of her ‘protruded’ stomach which refused to go down after the twins birth.

She had written earlier;

I always hear this story or read it on Facebook. But today am so surprise it happened to me. Friends rise up and let us thank God who blessed my aunty with set of twin (a boy and a girl) after 12years of marriage…. cheiiiii i call him Jehovah over do, odogwu akataka, nwoke m ji eme onu… if i continue i will not finish… pls call him what you can…. rejoice with me….

In her new post, Chinenye Sylva disclosed that she has never witnessed such incident all her life;

Cheiiiiiiiiiiii….. remeber when i shared the first picture of my aunty that gave birth to twins after 12years of marriage… just yesterday another baby came from same stomach… 3months after… she always complain of her stomach growing instead of going down after giving brith to the twins not knowing that one child is still remaining there. And the baby boy came forth yesterday which is the 2nd picture. People this is three months after.

Since i was born and now am getting old, i have not seen this type of miracle… that is why i call him jehovah overdo, omalichachukwu, odogwu, ome ihe nyiri mmadu na omumw, onye ana akpo otu oku oza ugboro iri. Friends pls call him names, and rejoice with me. So my anuty have triplet. 2boys and a girls…12yrs after marriage in a miraculous way.

Chimamanda Adichie who sat for an interview with online entertainment publication, Vulture, talked about motherhood, how it affected her writing career and how she feels she feels sorry for men because they can’t have the experience of giving birth

.Chimamanda Adichie who has been known to court controversies with her viewpoints, disclosed that she thought she would not be a good mother because she was “so dedicated to [her] art”. The mother who opened up “a new emotional plane” that has contributed to her art positively, said in the interview;

“My baby happened, and it’s important to talk honestly about this, because having her changed a lot.

“Having a child gets in the way of writing. It does. You can’t own your time the way you used to.

“But the other thing that motherhood does — and I kind of feel sorry for men that they can’t have this — is open up a new emotional plane that can feed your art.”

“I said to myself, I have nephews and nieces who I adore, and I helped raise them, so those will be my children. That’s what I thought for a long time, because I felt that I couldn’t be true to both my art and my child.”

On what changed her mind about motherhood, Chimamanda Adichie said;

“Getting older. I like to joke and say that you’re ready [to have a child] when your body isn’t ready, and when your body is ready, you’re not mentally ready.

“I guess you have the best eggs when you’re like 22; but at 22, you don’t even know yourself.

“Then when you’re 38 and know yourself, your eggs are not the best quality. Anyway, we’ll talk about eggs another time.”

Chimamanda Adichie ignited controversies in June 2018, after she claimed she has a problem with men holding doors for women in an interview with Trevor Noah.

According to his tweets, he said tithes are for levite and not Pastors, he further said if one does not pay tithe, things won’t be tight for such person neither will the person die. Using Japan as an example, he said they have 1% population of Christian yet they are 10times Richer than Nigeria with 50% of Christians.

If riches are linked to paying tithes, how come Japan, with less than 1% Christian population is 10 times richer than Nigeria with a Christian population of almost 50%? This is even as Japan’s natural resources are 5 times less than Nigeria’s? Ideas bring more riches than tithes!

The world’s biggest church auditorium is being constructed in Nigeria. Unfortunately, we hardly hear of the world’s biggest factory, railroad, hospital or schools being built in Nigeria. Advise to the Nigerian religious community-build people, dont just build buildings.
